Original Moby Wrap

Be comfortable

The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby.

Be secure

The Moby Wrap comes with an easy to follow instructional guide and this web site with the latest news, tips and techniques. With the single stretch cotton and the width of the Moby Wrap, your baby is wrapped close and tight, ensuring a secure hold. Your baby s head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. You can finally have both hands free and know your baby is safe and secure.

Be uniquely close to your baby

There is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body, and sound of your heartbeat within the cuddly confines of the Moby Wrap.

Preemie to 35 lbs.

The Moby Wrap is an optimal baby carrier for premature infants. Preemies are often prescribed to practice "kangaroo care" and this skin-to-skin practice used to increase birth weight can be easily achieved while wearing the Moby Wrap. The Moby Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric can hold up to 45 lbs, and most people feel comfortable carrying up to 35 lbs.

Soothes fussy babies

It is amazing how quickly a baby will settle down once wrapped in the Moby Wrap. Experts like Dr. Sears, stress the importance of holding your baby often and close. The Moby Wrap allows you to do this with ease. The style of the wrap insures your baby is uniquely close, while providing ultimate comfort and support. No more aching backs or tired arms! Now your baby can be kept close and happy for as long as he or she desires.

Versatile

There are many ways to wear your Moby Wrap. You can wear your baby facing you, facing the world, sideways or on your back. When not being used as a carrier, the Moby can be used as blanket, pillow or anything else that comes to mind.

Machine washable

The Moby Wrap is easy to clean. You can machine wash your Moby in cold water and tumble dry low. Slight shrinkage after washing may occur. Once you start wearing your Moby again, it will stretch out.

Baby is so much happier, and it is so much easier to get things done around the house with the moby. I ordered it in Indigo, which is beautiful, just not exactly what it looked like in the picture. I intend to possibly dip dye it again anyway. (Posted on 10/13/2014)

We used this when both of our children were very small. They loved being so close! However, it did get pretty hot (because it was summertime). It is quite long so I didn't feel comfortable using it out of the house because I didn't want the ends to drop on the ground and get dirty. (Posted on 9/3/2014)

We used a moby wrap with my son from being just a week or two old until about 5 or 6 months. It takes a little bit of practice to get it figured out, but after that it is very easy to use and quite comfortable. I do prefer my soft structured carrier for when baby is in and out a lot, but the Moby is definitely a better fit for newborns. The only downside that I found was that after a while, I had to re-tie it all because it would get stretched out and baby would get loose in it. (Posted on 4/5/2014)

I have several different baby carriers. I found that the Moby Wrap is perfect for newborns or smaller infants. It's soft and has a comfortable fit while completely supportive of your little bundle of joy. It also allows closeness with your baby which a major plus. Learning the correct and safe way to get the warping down took a minute, but was worth it. I would definitely use it for my next baby as well. (Posted on 3/16/2014)

I used the Moby wrap from just after my daughter was born until she was about 6 months old. It was perfect when she was so little, since she fit snuggly with her little legs up and slept very well in the wrap. I used it mainly for going on walks and doing chores and errands. I never got very good at wrapping it, but it worked for us anyway. Once she was 5 or 6 months old, I switched to the Ergo. (Posted on 3/13/2014)

We used this with my daughter all the time when she was born. She would nap for hours in the Moby while I was still able to get things done around the house. The only thing I didn't like was if I took it out places, it was a pain to put on in the parking lot without dragging the ends everywhere. I ended up getting a Baby k'Tan for outings. Even though it took my husband and I a really long time to figure out how to use the Moby Wrap (we are slow learners), it really proved itself to be a wonderful product. We also have an ERGO, but we love the Moby's ability to be wrapped into so many various carrying positions. What is best about this product, is that it doesn't take up much room and can be easily rolled and tucked into a diaper bag for later use. (Posted on 12/29/2013)

This wrap is a must have for a family with a newborn! We used it constantly when our daughter was first born- it helped to keep her close while allowing us to accomplish tasks that we would have normally had to put her down for. I also learned how to nurse her in it (around the house and in public). The only flaw was that it was a little bulky to carry about in the diaper bag and took a long time to put on, but I would still suggest it. You definitely get your money's worth! I tried 3 different carriers. The Moby, Balboa (received as a gift), and Ergo. I wanted to love the Moby and still love the idea and comfort factor but my little guy HATED it. I tried for two weeks every day multiple times per day hoping he would get used to it but he never has. He just screams. He also hates being swaddled so maybe that's the problem. He also hated the Balboa. I think for the same reasons. He hated lying down in the Balboa. I really only bought the Ergo for use during camping as he got older but tried it at 1.5 months b/c I was desperate and he LOVED the Ergo. His arms are more free and he enjoys the upright position. So, I guess I would say it's just hard to know what they'll like. (Posted on 11/26/2013)

I bought this wrap when my baby girl was just born. It was a life saver for us. There is definitely a learning curve but once you figure it out it is worth the effort. I was able to take care of my other responsibilities and keep my new baby close to me. This wrap was unusable once she hit about 15 lbs because it began to sag but for the price I paid I would buy this again if I had another baby. (Posted on 8/3/2013)

I have sooo many different carriers from baby bjorn to slings, to ergo...this was the ONLY carrier that my baby would stay in. He loved it so much he would spend hours and hours in it, only getting out for nursing and diaper changes. It also was wonderful on my back and my baby was 9.3lbs when born so he was a biggie! The only downfall I will say is that it is a pain to nurse in it, you have to take the baby out or loosen the whole thing, which can be cumbersome with a hungry baby. I found that learning to tie it took no time at all and I would just put it on in the morning and wear it most of the day. (Posted on 7/16/2013)

I could never get the wrap quite riight. It always sat kind of unevenly, and I was worried my son would fall out. It eventually got too cold to leave the house and I didn't drive, so I stopped using it. She. I did use it, my son would drop RIGHT to sleep in it. A few times he was extremely tired, but wouldn't go to sleep. I put him in this, took a walk around the block and he'd be out for two hours. Life saver. If I just walked holding him, it didn't have the same effect and he'd hurt my back. Not a problem with this. I wish I had gotten the wrap right on the shoulders! (Posted on 4/21/2013)

I was given a Moby by a friend who never mastered hers. I felt like it was easy to get the hang of and once we figured out how to get a nice snug fit, my baby loved being in it. As the baby gains weight, it does start to get stretchier and is harder to keep snug so that is where many go to woven wraps or Ergo type carriers. Moby is a lot of fabric and is quite warm to wear but you can tie it on in advance and avoid dragging it on the ground when out in public. (Posted on 3/9/2013)

I used these thing a few times. Each time I just could not get my baby to like it. The process of putting it on is frankly a pain! I had to youtube a detailed instruction video just to put it on right. The trick is to straighten it out perfectly on your back and shoulders and pull it tight. I find that it stretches out very easily and you have to adjust it once you get going. Overall, I would not purchase again and plan on donating mine. I have an ergo that I love, now! My baby wanted to be carried and snuggled all the time, but just didn't like the Moby wrap. However, he seems to be the exception as most babies love it. It did come in very helpful for naps though, if I put him in it when he was very sleepy, he would fall asleep and take his longest naps that way. It is well-made and especially great for the price compared to other carriers. It can take a while to put on, unlike other carriers; but also has more options for positions than other carriers. I think a Moby is a great addition to any newborn nursery. There is a bit of a learning curve to master the tieing process, but after one day, I was a pro. it was great for our LO when she was a newbie She would curl up so snug and snooze wherever we were! Now that she is older, we have moved to SSCs, so I don't know how it would work with a larger baby.
Note; You shoudl never use a stretchy wrap for a back carry.

we used a Moby when we first had our son, but I was not thrilled with it. It is so long that I was always dropping it and dragging the ends on the ground. I just found it to be annoying and cumbersome. It is also pretty expensive and would be cheaper and just as effective to go buy 5 yards of stretchy fabric for next to nothing at a craft store. I much prefer the Ergo with an infant insert. (Posted on 9/25/2012)

When my little brother was a baby, my mother used a Snugli with him, as she did with myself and the rest of my siblings when we were that age. One day, the snaps on the bottom came loose (goodness knows how!) and my little brother fell right through! Luckily, he fell with his head on my shoes, and was completely unharmed. But after that experience, I was a lot more cautious about my choice for a baby carrier with my own little one. No Snugli for me! After rave reviews online, and a HUGE rage review from an old friend, I decided on the Moby wrap! And I don't regret it, it's a fantastic product!!! Advise to anyone having trouble figuring out how to use it properly: go directly to the Moby Wrap website, and watch their video demo of how to put it on. Happy Moby-ing! (Posted on 8/25/2012)

I have lots of baby carriers, and find different ones are good for different things. The Moby was great for the the newborn period to snuggle baby up close. And at 8 months its still my carrier of choice for being out and about when we will be driving. I just tie on the Moby before we leave, and pop baby in when we get out of the car. It is very comfortable even when the baby isn't in it, no knots against my back. It was also great when we were flying to visit family for Christmas. I loved not having to worry about a stroller! And baby handled all the travel and new places better because he was close to me. It did take some time to figure out how tight to wrap it, but after a few weeks I didn't even think about it. It can also be a bit of a nuisance to put on, not as quick as some of our other carriers, but once it is on, its easy to leave it on and adjust as needed if it shifts when baby isn't in it. Also my husband prefers it to a ring sling, or a carrier with flowers on it. He does find it too hot in warm weather though. I haven't noticed that problem. (Posted on 5/24/2012)

My baby was 8lb even at birth and I've been putting her in the Moby since she was about 2 weeks old. She LOVES it! It gives me both hands so i can get things done around the house & she mostly just sleeps when she's in it. We have an ergo too and she likes it as well, but the Moby is so comfy. I think it might be to hot for the summer, so we may use the Ergo more when it's hot out.My only complain is that it's hard to tie the moby without it touching the ground. (Posted on 5/23/2012)

The Moby was my first carrier and I fell in love with wrapping. So soft, so snuggly, helped my oldest with colic and helped my youngest with breastfeeding. The Moby feels like a second womb to my boys when they were babies and once I would put them in they'd nuzzle up and fall asleep. It only worked up to 4 months though, because then my youngest was too heavy and it would sag. That is the only downside with a Moby style wrap, they do eventually sag so you'll need to get something else for a bigger baby and a toddler. (Posted on 4/30/2012)

I have used my Moby for 3 children, ages newborn to toddler, and it is so wonderful! I love it for newborns because I feel like I get the most secure fit. The Moby Wrap is made out of very nice, soft fabric, so it is comfortable to wear, as well as comfortable against baby's skin. My daughter usually falls asleep within a few minutes in the Moby. It takes a lot of strain off of my back, compared to carrying my daughter in my arms. She is above average size for a 4 month old, but this still feels strong enough to hold her safely. My only complaint is that due to the length of fabric, it drags on the ground while you are wrapping it. I know you need the extra length to wrap multiple times for safety, but it is slightly awkward to put on at times. Overall though, its a nice product and I am happy with it. (Posted on 10/5/2011)

Like, not Love Review by Gina

I will say that this is a well made product. As far as a big piece of fabric can be. The idea is well conceived, I just think that how much one likes this is a matter of personal preference.

I do like that is is very comfortable. My baby looks comfortable in it, I don't feel pinched or anything like that. I also like that when my baby was at the age where he didn't have prescribed naptimes, he would happily fall asleep in this.

I do not like that it is a bit cumbersome. Its just..a piece of fabric, so when it isn't on, you have to roll it up, fold it, up, etc. Its not small, either. I find it pretty easy to put on, I actually find taking it off a pain. That's the main reason I never wear it in public. This is an at-home wrap only for us. Also, when he does fall asleep in it...its hard to get him out of it without waking him up (like I can with a mei tai). I don't like that you can only wear it on the front, and I was very uncomfortable using it for cradle hold. We only use hug hold.

Now that my baby is bigger, we have graduated from our Moby. We have enough other options for at home now, that we don't really need it. Perhaps it'll make a comeback as the weather cool off though!

I cannot more highly recommend this wrap. It's true that it takes a little practice, but once you've done it a few times it's actually pretty easy. I don't know what I would do without my Moby, especially when my little one was a newborn. It gives them the snug feeling they've been craving, and still allows for skin-to-skin contact. I had a very colicky newborn, and the first time I put him in the Moby, he got an expression on his face that clearly said, "*Gasp! I'm back inside!" Then his eyes glazed over, and he was asleep within minutes. The Moby may be a little more difficult for the caregiver, but it definitely strikes me as the best wrap for babies.

Other plusses: Since the fabric is a wide panel, it takes a lot of the pressure off of the holder's back. It's all cloth, no buckles or straps. It holds the baby snugly and allows for skin-to-skin contact--no fabric gets between the baby and the holder. It can also help support breastfeeding and infant massage. In general, it is an excellent way to practice kangaroo care.

It might be worth it to have another carrier in addition to the Moby, but I would definitely have one on hand--especially for newborns.

I absolutely LOVED wearing my youngest in the Moby Wrap shortly after she was born. The biggest downfall to the Moby Wrap is the learning curve, same can be said from all wraps. A few times of wrapping though and I had it down.

My daughter loved the Moby Wrap too and even at almost two I wear her in it occasionally without any issues. I am of small build (100lbs and 5'2'') and find that the Moby Wrap is very versatile, I can use it, Daddy (about 100lbs more and several inches taller) can use the same one. Big sister has even worn her in the Moby Wrap. It does a great job of weight distribution, using the entire core to support the child's weight, which is very important to me because I have such a small build.

I wanted to love the Moby Wrap, but it is too much fabric for my 5'4" frame. In the summer I looked like a sweaty, Jedi knight and I didn't feel that my baby (born in August) was very comfortable. I anxiously awaited cooler months, but he still didn't care for it in October/November. We used a Bjorn instead, which was easy and allowed more freedom of movement for both of us. I did receive instruction on tying from a Moby die-hard and felt that I had a good grasp of the complicated procedure. The fabric is soft and sturdy. (Posted on 2/7/2011)

I got my moby before my son was born. I thought it would be too hot but the times I tried it I was 8+ months pregnant in the summer heat. He was born in October and it was great for keeping him warm on chilly days and I didn't get to hot as long as I dressed for cooler weather! (Posted on 1/26/2011)

I own the moby wrap in orange and I love the way it feels! It is quite complicated to master at first and I still struggle occasionally with it, but I never have an achy back. It is such a great value. (Posted on 1/11/2011)

The Moby does look intimidating at first, but it is great! Once you get the hang of putting it on and how you and your baby are most comfortable with it, it's pretty easy. My baby loves this wrap and it is really comfortable to wear! (Posted on 12/22/2010)

Great product. I like the fact that there is no plastic ring. It offers more possibilities. Just make sure to position the baby so she breathes well. (Posted on 12/16/2010)

Requires initial practice Review by LaMo Mama

No part of parenting came without a steep learning curve for me. The Moby was the same, I practiced tying it, untying it, putting a teddy bear in/out. After mastering the tying and different hold options, it takes maybe 1 minute longer than putting on my Bjorn. Pros - amazing value for the price, Baby seems comfortable and will fall asleep, flexible option as Baby has grown (now 6 months), goes in the washer and dryer with our laundry. Cons - seems too warm to wear on hot days, I have to stand near a bed or chair to put it on so as not to drag the ends on the ground. (Posted on 8/5/2010)

I got this before my son was born. It was great for the first year now I just feel like he kinda sags in it at 24 pounds. I bought an ergo in it's place, I will use it again for our next baby. FYI I live in Texas and all this fabric (6yards) gets REALLY hot! (Posted on 6/10/2010)
A lifesaver in the early months! Review by Ashley

I loved our Moby wrap in the early months! Once my daughter reached 6 months/ 16 lb or so, the stretchy material made it harder to get a good fit. I found that she sagged, and since I have a petite frame, I ended up discontinuing use. I loved the stretchy material because of the softness and this wrap was just perfect for my tiny newborn. I would get another Moby in a woven material in a heartbeat for after 6 months. (Posted on 6/8/2010)

I got a moby prior to my baby being born thinking it would last us thru all of our babywearing years but sadly it did not.. it was a very nice wrap for a newborn (my lil one was born at 9.9lbs) once she hit 11ish pounds it started sagging she was only like 3 months or so .. so it didnt last us long at all but it is a good wrap for a newborn.. I really like this wrap. I purchased it before my son was born. And it's great. I live how secure it feels and my son now 13 months old still loves it. It's held up great and is so comfortable. The only thing I don't like is it's 6 yards of fabric so when putting it on I always drop it on the ground. I would buy again. (Posted on 6/2/2010)

I'm 5'5" & 111lbs and I found all the fabric to be a bit overwhelming. I know a lot of people love this wrap and I think it 'could' be great but it's not the carrier for us. I'm selling mine to try another. (Posted on 5/7/2010)

I honestly could not live without my moby wrap. I have three little girls under the age of 5 and going out into the world can be hectic. This wrap has saved my life! It also makes nursing in public a much more descrete project which I appreciate. It was a little akward to get used to at first, but once I got the hang of it I have not gone a day without using it. Newborn only Review by Jennifer

The moby wrap was great for the 1st few months but the instructions included are not safe. Once baby reaches about 18 pounds it is no longer supportive and should be traded for a different wrap. Also, moby includes instructions for a back carry... not safe at all! It is a great product if used properly but the instructions are misleading. (Posted on 5/2/2010)
Great but not ideal Review by Jennifer

This is a very comfortable carrier, but I found that for older babies, even just 5 or 6 months old, that you either have to tie it pretty tightly or the baby kind sags a little. I think it's amazing for newborns, but I prefer something else for older babies. I don't really like all the fabric around me, but that's just personal preference. Also, this would be pretty uncomfortable in hot climates because of all the extra fabric. That's all personal preference though, it's very comfortable and easy to use otherwise! (Posted on 4/30/2010)

I have this carrier and the Ergo and have been using both for my 3 week old baby girl. I like the Ergo for longer walks, but I think the Moby is great for around the house. I feel like she is safe and secure in the Moby, and I appreciate all the various ways it can be used. I suspect it will not be as good for carrying her when she is bigger, which is why I like having the option of the Ergo. I like that there are a variety of colors available, and the instruction manual is very easy to follow. (Posted on 4/23/2010)

I can't believe I paid less than $40 for this. I LOVE it. I had tried a couple different carriers before this one. None are as comfortable or supportive. My son loves it. He is 13 months and about 22 lbs. He is almost always attached to me. My sister bought one from the green nursery the same day mine came in the mail, because she loves it too. If you dont' have one, buy one. It will change your life. (Posted on 4/23/2010)

I wish I had the Moby Wrap 7 years ago when I had my first baby! Thank goodness I had it after my 5th baby was born. I was able to keep my baby nice and close and yet have my hands free to take care of my other 4 kids. I've gotten comments from everyone, including my oldest son's kindergarten teacher who just had to know what it was & tell her friend that was about to have a baby. So comfortable I can still carry around my twenty pound 12 month old and not feel it. LOVE IT! (Posted on 4/20/2010)

I liked the Moby when my baby was less than 15lbs. but when she got more mobile and heavier, I found that this carrier wasn't providing enough support for my back. I also wasn't very fond of all the wrapping especially the first few weeks after birth. I was already overwhelmed with so many things, I hated having to figure out how to wrap this carrier around me... but I eventually got used to it. (Posted on 4/20/2010)

The Moby Wrap is a very good baby carrier. The quality and value of this product is amazing and it is versatile. However, it takes a few minutes to put it on and wrap it around you and then to get the baby in. While great for wearing baby for longer periods of time you might want to get a sling as well for ease around the house. (Posted on 4/20/2010)

We've been using our Moby since Gabe was born, he's 2 months now. Our favorite thing about the Moby is there are so many positions to choose from. It's easy and quick to put on as well. I love that my back doesn't ache when I wear it. We get loads of compliments especially at the Dr's office. Ü (Posted on 3/3/2010)

What a great wrap! I actually first started using it when I was around 5 months pregnant to carry my then 14 month old. We did the hip carry and even then it was comfortable. My new baby is now 11 months old and we're still using it! The closeness is amazing and I love being "hands-free". This way I can take all 5 of my boys to the store with less hassle! I only wish I would have known about the Moby wrap when my first was born! (Posted on 3/3/2010)

This was a life saver with my "little" one. Slings didn't work well for us since there was too much weight on one shoulder. The Moby spread that weight out over my back and by adjusting the straps I could move it if it got uncomfortable. I just wish i had found it earlier! (Posted on 3/2/2010)
