My baby loves Sophie- It's true what they say! When I first saw Sophie and started reading all the great reviews I thought, "How could a baby love a toy this much?", especially since some of the reviews referred to Sophie as a glorified dog toy. I will say that both of those points are true. While it really is just a small rubber squeaky toy, my baby absolutely loves it. We don't go anywhere without Sophie, in fact, I am thinking of getting another just to keep in the car or diaper bag and so we will have a replacement should the unthinkable happen. My 7 month old loves it because it is entertaining in different ways; obviously she loves chewing on it, but it is designed to stimulate other senses as well, and it does just that. (I won't go into it but you can read about it in the product description). I love it because it is all natural and not full of nasty chemic.als and such as many children's toys are. I gave Sophie 5 stars for quality and it pained me to do so, but I gave her 4 stars for value because around $20 really is a bit much to pay for a small rubber squeaky toy. Quality toy/teether After reading the reviews of the Sophie teether, I decided to purchase it for my 6mo daughter. At first when I opened the package it stunk, however, I knew that I needed to sanitize it anyway. The smell went away. I also read that it was just like a dog toy. I must admit it squeaks like a dog toy and feels like a dog toy, but who is going to buy a $5 dog toy for their baby to chew on. This material is natural and safe/better for baby. My daughter was only slightly interested with it in the begining, but as she really started teething (around 8-9mo) she took to it. She likes carry it around the house and chews on the legs the most. We've also used it in the bath with her. Now she is 17mo and still plays with Sophie. Overall, worth the $$ for a quality toy that will last. Posted on 1/4/12 by Cassaundra

Our favorite toy My daughter is 4 months old and loves Sophie. At first she was a little hesitant when she heard the squeak, but now as soon as she squeezes her and she squeaks she starts smiling and laughing. We recently went to a local craft fair and bought Sophie a leash so she can come with us every where and not get lost. It took a while but we LOVE IT! My daughter didn't take to Sophie at first so I was disappointed that she didn't seem to like it. especially with how much it costs Periodically I would reintroduce it to her and 2 months and 4 teeth later she LOVES IT! She lights up and laughs each time she sees Sophie then promptly proceeds to play with it and chew it for long periods of time (while I happily enjoy some quiet time!). Best Teether! While I was hesitant at first about the price, I couldn't resist the positive reviews and recommendations for Sophie. Our son took to her immediately when we gave her to him at about 4 mos. of age. At 1 year, we still see him happily chomping away at Sophie. I think she'll come in handy when his 1 yr. molars begin to pop through as he can stick her leg far enough to the side to chew on. LOVE it! I have seen many toys in my day but none like sophie! My children have loved sophie. The rubber material makes her soft and flexible great for teething babies plus the squeak isnt loud and annoying but enough that a baby is entertained. We take her everywhere as my youngest looks for her all the time especially now that she is teething. Washes up great and the coloring on her dosent flake off . Glorified dog chewie? After reading all the -mostly good- reviews and knowing that this company has been around for a long time I had very high hopes for this teether. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was that it stunk to high heaven. I understand it is made with all natural rubber and expected some smell but it was not very pleasant for me or my baby to smell or taste. The second thing I noticed was that it really did look and seem like a dog toy like some of the other reviews I had read stated. In fact, I showed it to my MIL and that's what she thought it was. Regardless, we kept trying Sophie and my daughter was never receptive to it. She chewed on it a couple times here and there, more so the legs for the teeth coming in on the side, but not enough to make me feel it was a worthy value or good buy.
