The Lil Joeys make a great addition to any newborn stash. The Lil•Joey will fit your preemie or multiples starting at 4 lbs. Although the Rumparooz One Size Diaper will fit a newborn at 6 lbs, other one size diaper brands do not start fitting until closer to 10-12 lbs, that is about 2 mo. The Lil Joey will fill the diaper gap so that your precious newborn does not have to spend one day in a disposable diaper with chemicals against their precious porcelain skin.
Kanga Care brand cloth diapers are the ONLY cloth diapers on the market that have been uniquely designed to contain the messiest of messes. The inside of each diaper is designed with 2 gentle internal gussets that channel each leg. No chance of escape for even the messiest or messes! Keep that cute outfit clean!
The Lil Joey is an AIO (all in one diaper) with a sewn in soaker, no pocket. This specialty diaper was designed to fill the gap between a newborn size and other brands of one size diapers. The Lil Joey fits babies 4-12 lbs. The Rumparooz One Size Diaper will fit a newborn starting at 6 lbs, but other brands of one size diapers will not fit until 10-12 lbs. The Lil Joey has a snap down center for easy umbilical care and comfort. The Lil Joey is a 2 size or "grow with me" diaper as it has shorter rise setting in the snapped down position and then higher rise settings in the unsnapped position.
Lil Joey Biodegradability:
The waterproof material Kanga Care uses on the Rumparooz, Lil Joey (and any other waterproof products) is TPU, not PUL. PUL is a polyester fabric that has been laminated with a poly-urethane laminate using a solvent and chemical process. This process off-gases harmful toxic fumes that destroy the building that the fabric is produced in. In 2008 Kanga Care started using a biodegradable TPU waterproof material. Biodegradable TPU is solvent-free. Biodegradable TPU is a polyester fabric that has been laminated with a thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process. This process is low in toxicity and is better for the natural environment. Both the TPU laminate and the polyester fabric the laminate is applied to are biodegradable. When composted they will biodegrade in 4-5 years.

This is the best newborn diaper I have tried!! I have tried over 9 different company's and styles this is the winner! Very comfortable, absorbent, and easy to use! The only down side I have found is the channel down the middle tends to not get as clean, I helped solve this by always washing snapped open! They tend to curl up during washing and I think that was the main problem.

Lil Joeys fit my baby best for the first few weeks. He was born at 6.5 but outgrew the absorbancy at around 4 weeks (9 lbs), so we weren't able to use them until 12 lbs. It caught all the poop and was not as bulky as other newborn diapers. I also second the tots bots teeny fit for longer use. We're approaching 11lbs and those still fit our baby beautifully with no leak issues as well.

I got a bunch of different brands of newborn diapers to try out and this was one of my favorites in the early newborn phase but there are other newborn diapers that I think will fit longer so if you are looking for a budget friendly diaper as far as longevity of use I would say look at the tots bots teeny fit. As for these they hold a lot and I really like the extra gussets that help hold poo in the diaper. I will say the only major issue we have had with these is that because of the gussets they like to stay curled in the washing machine and I have had some trouble getting them clean because of this. What we have done and what works most of the time is snap them curled open when we wash them. Sometimes they still flip right side out and have to be washed again but it has helped a lot. They absorb a heck of a lot and for the early newborn phase were what I reached for the most but my chunky guy is over 11lb at a month old and this will not fit much longer. It defiantly won't fit until he will be big enough to wear the one size diapers we have for him next. I just ordered more tots bots teeny fit to get us though to the one size diapers fitting.

I have a half dozen of these for my newborn stash and I love them! They are so tiny and cute. They fit right away which is awesome! I would recommend washing them 8-10 times for full absorbancy!

These diapers fit our newborn without giving the same bulky look and feel as the one size diapers. However our baby quickly outgrew them. We also had some issues with minor leaking in these diapers and had to start using our one size very quickly. With many of the cloth diaper one sizes designed to fit newborns, I am not sure if this purchase was worth it.

I received some of these as a gift for my newborn twins. They fit my 6 lb babies and looked adorable in newborn pictures. Unfortunately, they leaked almost every time we used them. I washed them at least 5 times, so I expected them to be more absorbent. Maybe my twins are just heavy wetters, but they only used them until they were a month old. I like that these come in a two pack, but they aren't worth the money to only use for a few weeks.

I loved the designs, colors and convenience of these diapers! They worked great for our newbown who weighed a little over 6 oz when we brought him home. He still fits into them at 6 weeks, however, he has become a heavy wetter and goes through them very quickly. I am sad to transition him into Bum Genius Freetimes already! They are bulky but he can wear them longer and stay dry. I was hoping to wear the Lil Joeys longer!

Fits fairly well. The double gussets are great, but at least for my little one they and the whole bottom (crotch to butt) area of the diaper was a bit too thin to cover her rear end. They worked fine for the two months we needed a smaller diaper, but also weren't absorbent enough (leaking constantly).

Out of all the newborn diapers we have, these are the least bulky and the best fitting after only a week old. We loved the regular sized ones that they make, and so far, the smaller version works well too.

These fit really well for a tiny baby. I was expecting another 6 pounder, but he surprised me at 8. These worked great at first, but not very well at 9 lbs or if baby has a long rise. Absorbant enough for newborn changes and a good fit, no gaps. These won't bridge the gap between nb and os, though. Take a long time to dry in the dryer, too.

I did not expect my baby to be so big, so I didn't get much use out of these. I do love them for nb diapers, though. If you are expecting a small baby or even a preemie, these will be fantastic. They are super soft, cute prints, and snap down for the umbilical cord. It did take a long time to dry in the dryer, though.

My daughter was born at 6.5 pounds and these diapers fit her well initially (although quite bulky compared to other NB diapers). They are absorbent and we never had any leaking issues. She is now 9 pounds and in between snaps, so we can't use them. The bottom part is so bulky and it is harder to tell if she is wet with these diapers compared to others. These are nice diapers, but wouldn't buy again.

I LOVE these. I have a newborn rotation of 26 prefolds, 6 lil joeys and some disposables that we were gifted. My very favorite are the lil joeys. They fit great and the gussets are perfect newborn poop catchers. The disposables leek, the prefolds leek, but the lil joeys? Never.
The only bummer is the now my baby has hit 3 weeks (about 9 lbs) she pees through the absorbency. I wish, wish, wish it was adjustable/ had a pocket because they still fit her like a dream, they just can't make it through a long nap and I hate to wake a sleeping baby. Even though they are expensive and have a very short life, next time I would buy enough to have an entire stash because it is worth it to not have to clean poop off your baby's back in the middle of the night and they hold their resale value.

We loved these diapers for the first 2 weeks, but after that they weren't absorbent enough for our heavy-wetting babies. They are so cute and they have excellent resale value though!

We purchased the Grovia diapers for our baby but I also purchased a set of these Lil Joey's because I had a feeling she was going to come early and I wanted a cloth diaper that would fit her if she wasn't a full 8 pounds upon birth. Thank God we did because she came at 37 weeks and was 6 lbs at birth. We ended up purchasing 2 more packs for a total of 6 Lil Joey's just to get us through until she gained the weight to fit into the Grovia's that start at 8 lbs. We felt find making this purchase even though these diapers only last through 12 lbs because we knew we would use them again for our other children and I just couldn't do the disposables in the meantime.
I would recommend these Lil Joey's also for their absorbency (great for both day and night). They have a great gusset system inside so that nothing comes out the legs and everything stays contained.
They are also really great because they fold down in the front for the umbilical cord which is perfect since a lot of the other diapers don't offer this.
We would highly recommend the Lil Joey's!

We LOVED our Lil Joeys! I had several newborn fitteds and preflats, in addition to 7 of these. I, by far, preferred these diapers over the others. The fit was fantastic and we never had an EBF blow-out in them. My son was born at 8 lbs. 1 oz., but was able to wear these for 7 weeks. He still had plenty of room in them, but had outgrown the absorbency. We will be purchasing more of these for future babies.
A con is that they seemed to take quite awhile to dry.
