TotsBots Easy Fit Review and Giveaway!

I have been cloth diapering my little guy for a while now, and have only recently discovered Tots Bots. Tots Bots is a family owned company based in Glasgow, Scotland. When you hear someone say "Tots Bots", they are usually refering to the Easy Fit All-In-One diaper, which is manufactured by Tots Bots and distributed here by Bummis.
I heard some mamas chatting about Tots Bots Easy Fit and how much they LOVED them. A few of the moms were searching for the limited edition prints that they didn’t have and seemed to be having a heck of a time finding them. The more we talked about the brand, the more it seemed to me that this must really be a diaper worth trying out. Since I love trying out different diapers on my son, I decided to see what all the fuss was about...
Tots Bots Easy Fits are available in adorable prints and solid colors. I was lucky enough to snag one in the Chicken Little print from TGN. There are too many cute prints to mention. From what I hear, since they are limited edition, once you find one you’re looking for you should snatch that baby up before they’re gone!
The Easy Fit is an All-In-One with a fold-out liner made of three layers of super soft minky fabric, that is sewed into the soft brushed polyester inner material. While the prints typically come with white interior, in the solid colors the fold-out liners along with the snaps, hook & loop, and thread are dyed to match the outer fabric of the diaper.
The outer fabric is waterproof polyester laminate (PUL). There is a pocket opening in the back of the diaper for you to stuff the liner into, or you can simply fold the liner and lay it into the diaper. You can also fold it so that you have more layers of absorbency. There is a flap of soft polyester fabric that covers the opening which keeps baby’s skin from coming in contact with the PUL.
It is available in snaps or hook & loop. Since I've heard great things about Tots Bots hook & loop, that's the option I chose to review. The tabs are large and sturdy and are able to overlap if needed. There are laundry tabs on the inside where you can attach the Velcro tabs before laundering.
Tots Bots Easy Fit is a one size diaper, or B2P as Tots Bots says, meaning it should fit most babies from birth to potty training. There are six snaps on the front of the diaper to adjust the rise. They are in three horizontal rows of two snaps to adjust the diaper from small on the lowest set of snaps, to medium on the middle set of snaps, to large if the diaper is left unsnapped.
Preparing the Diaper
Tots Bots recommends the Easy Fit be washed three times in hot water to reach maximum absorbency, however it should be functional after one hot wash. I was so excited to try out the Easy Fit that I didn’t want to wait through three washes. I put it on him after just one wash and it worked just fine!
With the hook & loop version, you want to make sure you secure the laundry tabs before washing or the very strong Velcro will attach to other areas of the diaper or snag other diapers and could cause some wear on the materials. Also this allows pieces of fabric to get into the tabs and could affect their stickiness.
A great feature of the Tots Bots Easy Fit is that the minky insert should agitate out on its own, so there's no need to pull out the wet liner before throwing it into the washer. For some reason, I don't know if it had to do with load size and my HE front loader or what, but the insert didn't agitate on it's own the first couple times I washed it. Nowadays it agitates out every time, which makes me happy! The couple of times it didn't though, it still seemed like it washed up good enough and was clean. Of course, I don't have to worry about it agitating out if I don’t stuff the liner and just fold it and lay it on top of the diaper.
One of the first things that comes to my mind when I think of All-In-Ones is long drying time. That’s not the case with the Easy Fit… it dries just as fast as my pocket diaper shells! That’s just one of the great things about minky fabric, it dries quickly.
The Easy Fit comes with a nice fleece liner that can be laid on top of the sew in liner to give you the option of a stay dry material between your baby’s skin and the minky fabric. Although I think this is a great option, I prefer not to use liners for day to day use. I just used the Easy Fit by itself, and it did not cause any problems for my son. Don’t worry if you aren’t into using liners either! Minky is perfectly fine going next to baby’s skin!
I am very impressed with how much the minky insert holds! I was concerned it wouldn’t hold very much because of how trim it is, but in my opinion, it holds just as much as my microfiber inserts! The Easy Fit fits my little guy like a glove. He is 22lbs, and we use the middle rise setting. We have not had any problems with leaks. The way the diaper is designed around the legs creates protective side guards made of anti-wicking, soft brushed polyester. This helps keep mess inside the diaper where it belongs.
Another thing I love about this diaper is how easy it is to spray off. I was concerned that the minky fabric would make it more grippy (if that’s a word) and that it would stain, but it’s really super easy to come clean and my diapers do not have any stains.
I have to say, I was pretty nervous about using this diaper overnight. The mink fabric is very trim, and while it holds a lot, my son usually nurses two or few times throughout the night. I really didn’t want to wake up with wet sheets! I decided to stuff the pocket for added absorbency. At first I tried a prefold in the pocket and folded the sew-in insert on top. That made the diaper really bulky and caused some gapping at the legs, so that wasn’t going to work. Then I tried a pad folded flat… still a bit too much. Finally I decided to go as trim as I could and stuffed a hemp insert, and that was just right! It didn’t add any extra bulk to the diaper and no gapping at the legs. I opted to use the fleece liner that the Easy Fit came with at night, since he was going to be in contact with the wet minky for an extended period of time. Just wanted to play it safe. Then the ultimate test… did it last through the night? Sure did! The hemp insert was completely saturated, so while it worked I think it may be a good idea to add two.
One of my top reasons for choosing cloth diapers is my baby’s comfort, and this diaper fits the bill. The inside of the diaper is a SUPER soft, and has to be so comfortable for baby. I also love that with the Easy Fit, you have the convenience of an All-In-One without a long drying time! It’s nice not to have to search for an insert since it’s already attached. Plus, with a diaper this cute, who wants to wait a long time to get it back on baby? The one thing I don’t like is having it sit in the bottom of my wet bag while I wait for laundry day... that’s why I’m happy that I have another Tots Bots on the way to my home as we speak!
