The Simply Lite's claim to fame is that it is Bummis' first one-size cover. It's designed to fit most babies from infant to potty training, with a weight range from 8-35 lbs. It can be used with fitteds, prefold, flats, or any absorbent insert that is safe to go against baby's skin. Last year Bummis sent me this cover to review on my personal blog. It was pretty much love at first sight. I've been using it for about a year now, so the question is, do I still feel the same?
A big thing I look for when it comes to a diaper for my son is comfort. When I first received the Simply Lite, there were two things I noticed right off the bat. One, it was a lot stretchier and more pliable than other covers I have used. And two, the cut across the waist is curved, allowing it to sit under the belly. I found this to be a very pleasant change to the stiffer, cut straight across covers I was used to using. Both of these features allow the diaper to move with my son, whether he is sitting, standing, running, or climbing- this wrap never gets in his way.
The PUL (the shiny waterproof layer on the inside of the diaper) is exposed, so that the cover can be wiped clean in between diaper changes. It is partially lined in the front portion of the diaper with a soft, quick drying mesh to help reinforce the snaps. Because you can use the cover multiple times before needing to wash, it can be a budget friendly cloth diapering option for families. If you buy a 6-8 covers and enough prefolds or flats to wash every other day, this could easily and affordably take most babies from infant to potty-training.
When I first started using the wrap, I was a little concerned about how the waist sitting so low would work for my tummy sleeper who nurses through the night. In the year that I've been using this diaper cover, I haven't had any trouble with leaks! The elasticized waist allows for a snug (yet comfortable) fit, keeping wetness where it belongs- inside the diaper and not on our sheets. In fact, my little guy wore his Simply Lite cover paired with the new Dimple Diaper (an organic cotton fitted, also from Bummis) last night! After some finagling and tucking, I got all that fluffy cotton goodness inside the Simply Lite cover. Not only did this combo seem very comfy for my son, he made it through the night leak-free!
So the verdict? After a year of use, I still love this wrap! It's definitely one I find myself frequently reaching for. Another great thing I love about Bummis, is that all their products are made in North America. The fabrics are made in the United States and manufactured in Canada. Their workers are paid a fair wage so that they can afford to buy the products they make. All the materials used to make the Simply Lite, along with the rest of Bummis products, are guaranteed to be lead, phthalate, and BPA free. Knowing that my baby is safe and comfy, I’m getting a functional, high quality product that’s worth the price, and my purchase is helping to supporting families at home is very important to me. That’s why I highly recommend the Bummis Simply Lite one size wrap.
